What you're turning on
The Coterie Assistant is a built-in AI helper members can ask about their own contribution, reviews, and upcoming sessions — see Coterie Assistant for what it looks like from a member's side. As the creator, you're the one who turns it on and controls how it's used.
Setting it up
Bring your own OpenAI key
The assistant runs on a key you supply — it's disabled by default until you configure one.
Set a daily message cap
Control usage per member per day, so you have a predictable ceiling on cost.
Turn it on
Once configured, the assistant becomes available to your members immediately.
What it can and can't see
The assistant only ever answers from a member's own data within your Coterie — their own posts, reviews, and contribution history. It doesn't see other members' activity, and it isn't a general-purpose chatbot answering questions unrelated to your community.
This is a genuinely differentiated feature for a community your size — most open social feeds and group chats don't have anything like it. Turning it on is a low-effort way to make your Coterie feel more polished than the free-form group chats members are used to.
