Creating Your Coterie
Why and how to launch your own Coterie community, from setup to your first party.
Why run a Coterie
If you've built an audience — a niche following, a client base, a professional network — you already have the hardest part. What most creators are missing is the infrastructure to turn that audience into a community that actively works for its members, instead of a list that only hears from you when you post.
A Coterie gives your people a reason to show up regularly, not just another place to lurk. Sessions, relevant matching and participation tools create a rhythm around sharing work, exchanging ideas and supporting the people in your circle — and it's yours: your niche, your rules, your brand. Before you start
Decide two things up front, because they shape everything else:
- Who is this for? The tighter the niche, the better the matching. "Marketers" is broad; "B2B SaaS marketers doing organic LinkedIn" is a Coterie people will actually feel is theirs.
- How strict is the door? Auto-approve gets you members faster; manual review gets you a higher bar. Neither is wrong — it depends on whether you're optimizing for growth or quality early on.
Setting up
Create your account and community
Sign up at app.coterie.rsvp — email and password, or Google or GitHub — then create your Coterie.
Configure your settings
From your admin dashboard, set your allowed content channels, default party size and time window, and participation rules. See Settings & Party Rules for the full breakdown.
Add your niches
Define the niches members will pick from during onboarding — see Managing Niches.
Set your branding
Add your logo and accent color. If you want your community to live on its own domain instead of an app.coterie.rsvp URL, see Branding & White-Label.
Share your apply page
Every Coterie gets a public page at coterie.rsvp/c/your-slug. Decide whether applications need your review or should auto-approve — see Reviewing Applications.
Schedule your first party
Open a session so your first members have a regular place to share their work and discover what other members are creating — see Scheduling Parties.
Start small. A dozen members who actually show up beats a hundred who signed up and never came back. You can always open the doors wider once your first party proves the loop works.
